Carcharorion

Carcharorion are the electronic duo – Huw Cadwaladr and Gruff Pritchard, originally from North Wales, both now live in Cardiff. They released their first EP ‘Hiraeth’ (Peski) at the end of 2014 which featured unique tracks, sampling the voices of the late folksinger Dr Meredydd Evans and poet Gerallt Lloyd Owen.

The duo joined Ikaching label to release their second EP – ‘Carcharorion’. The band steered away from sampling and concentrated more on original compositions. The songs have developed, mostly, by experimenting with different styles such as atmospheric techno and 80s synth music. During the recording process, effort was made to use as much analogue equipment as possible, starting with an electronic groove then building percussion, effects and sub bass tracks.

Heledd Watkins from the band HMS Morris features on the track ‘Y Carcharorion’ and the double bassist Huw V Williams on ‘Cawsom Wlad’. Producers Chris Jenkins and Llion Robertson also contributed towards shaping the sound of the EP.
The artwork was created once again by the artist Ceredig ap Dafydd.

Carcharorion’s remix of Steve Eaves’s song, ‘Y Milltiroedd Maith’, appeared on the multi-artist record to celebrate I KA CHING’s tenth year, ‘X’.
