
Mared
Before reaching the final of iconic songwriting competition Cân i Gymru in 2018, Mared was mainly known as the lead vocalist and keyboard player of rock band and C2 Battle of the Bands winners Trŵbz.
With a real passion for collaborating with other artists, the sensational singer from Clwyd made a name for herself with Leeds based electronic duo, Denton Thrift. Fear in the Night and Something Real, two tracks Mared wrote and recorded with the band, together rack up over 700,00 streams on Spotify alone. More recently, she has appeared on tracks with Welsh indie rockers Gwilym and the Band Pres Llareggub Brass Band.
Her debut live EP Noises in the Night was released in November 2017, followed by the single Dolig Dan y Lloer. Radio Leeds’ Alan Raw was quick to take note of Mared’s single Somber Man which featured on the EP.
Mared’s musical influences vary from Lucy Rose, Dodie, Susan Tedeschi to Melody Gardot, Courtney Marie Andrews and Maggie Rogers.
‘Over Again’, was released in June 2020 and first played on Janice Long’s show on Radio Wales.
In 2019, Mared released two singles off her debut album – Dal ar y Teimlad and Y Reddf. The award-winning album ‘Y Drefn‘ was released in 2020, winning Welsh Album of the Year at the 2021 National Eisteddfod.
Mared won ‘Best Solo Artist’ in the Y Selar awards two years in a row, in 2021 and in 2022.
She collaborated with Gwenno Morgan on the single ‘Llif yr Awr‘ which was released in 2021.
Nate Williams’s remix of ‘Dal ar y Teimlad‘ was on the multi-artist record to celebrate I KA CHING’s tenth year, ‘X‘.
