Hadyn – Y Reu’s new EP
On July 20th, Y Reu will release their debut EP, Hadyn (Seed). A launch night will be held at the start of Gŵyl Arall festival in Clwb Canol Dre Caernarfon Friday 27th of July, with support from Uumar and Chwalfa.
Y Reu are a band that have been in and around the Welsh music scene for several years by now. The release of Y Reu’s first single ‘Symud Ymlaen’ demanded the attention of music lovers in Wales, with their ability to combine various styles of music, mostly rock and house, leading to some fiery live performances. On Hadyn, we see the band’s ability to experiment with various styles in some heavy and energetic music – an EP which requires to be played loud!
“We’re trying to make as loud a sound as possible – to frighten you!” said Y Reu during a recent C2 Radio Cymru interview. “We feel like we’re getting closer to a sound we’re happy with. I think we’ve improved technically and learnt a lot from our older songs. We’ve kept the same production as songs such as ‘Diweddglo’ – the electro, dancy aspect but with a heavier sound – especially the drums… This is the happiest collection of songs we’ve written! It’s a concept EP to some extent, about a fantasy world.”
