Pop Cymraeg – Candelas
Candelas, one of Wales’ most influential bands since the 2010s, make their long‑awaited return on 29.07 with Pop Cymraeg, a brand‑new single on I KA CHING label. It’s their first new music in a year, and finally comes with the promise of a new album before the end of 2026.
Following their packed‑out headline set at Tafwyl in Cardiff Castle, the band step confidently into their next chapter as a group who’ve shaped Welsh music for over a decade. Pop Cymraeg presents Candelas at their best.
“Pop Cymraeg is a challenge to create a heavy but happy song. Something that sparks something in your stomach and your mind, but also gets your feet moving. It was a pleasure to play it for the first time at Tafwyl.”
The band will play a series of shows over the summer:
2/8 – Maes D, National Eisteddfod, 3pm
2/8 – Llwyfan y Maes, Eisteddfod Genedlaetholdlaethol, 9pm
5/8 – Maes B, National Eisteddfod
Pop Cymraeg marks the beginning of a new era for one of Wales’ most significant bands: a new single, a major return, and an album on the horizon.
