Patrymau Angel – Geth Vaughn
Geth Vaughan’s new single ‘Patrymau Angel’ will be released on 17 January on I KA CHING Records. This is Geth’s first single for many years, although his last single ‘Cath’ is a favourite on the radio wavelengths.
“I wrote ‘Patrymau Angel’ soon after my grandad passed away three years ago” says Geth. “At the time, I only had lyrics for the first verse. The section about ‘patrymau angel ar wely gwyn’ refers to going back to the room that my grandad was in, after they moved his body, on unchanged bedding”
“The demo was untouched for a while, until I recently rediscovered it – the rest of the lyrics are about the grieving process. The sample at the end is taken from an old VHS of me and my sister talking to my Grandad.”
The song was recorded at Geth’s design studio near Manchester, where he designs and animates under the name ‘Young’. The song was then re-produced and mixed by Llŷr Pari.
The artwork was created by Geth using stop-motion loopes of a moving snow angel, created by ripping thirty one patterns out of a white card with his hands.
