Mae’n Amser // We Think It’s Time – Candelas
It’s hard not to look back on the success of the Welsh football team at the 2016 Euros without hearing the belter ‘Rhedeg i Paris’ ringing in your ears. It was Candelas who resurrected Yr Anrhefn’s classic hit and turned it into an anthem for the whole country. But ‘It’s Time // We Think about Time’ is Candelas’ very own brand-new anthem for a brand-new campaign. The single will be released on the I KA CHING record label on the 4th of June.
From the first few scratches on the guitar, Candelas’ iconic energy overflows from the song and the meaty riffs elevate the inspiring lyrics. The ex-national team manager Chris Coleman is himself hooked on the song. “I recently enjoyed a little jamming session with Osian Candelas and absolutely loved it,” he said. “Since then, I have enjoyed reading this new release. The Red Wall will love singing this tune to celebrate some amazing Wales wins in The Euros ”.
Osian, the band’s lead vocalist, said, “It’s been a while since we’ve released anything. This song has been in my head for over a year, especially the lyrics ‘We think it’s time’. I just wanted to capture the energy of the recent Yes Cymru campaign, the confidence we’ve seen in our national football team and the feeling that we can create a better Wales.”
Two international footballers are also big fans of the song. Owain Tudur Jones said, “What a song! I look forward so much to watching Wales succeed in the Euros, then celebrating with a pint of beer in my hand and ‘It’s Time // We Think waiting Time’ shouting in the background!” And Gwennan Harries’ response was “I really like the song. It’s catchy and definitely one to shout the words out to! I can’t wait to hear the song in the run up to the international games”.
Candelas are Osian Huw Williams (vocals and guitar), Ifan Emlyn Jones (guitar), Tomos Edwards (bass guitar), Gruffudd Edwards (guitar) and Lewis Lludd Williams (drums). The single was recorded at Stiwdio Sain, engineered by Aled Huws and produced by Candelas. The cover of the single was created by Rhys Grail and the video was created by Rhys Edwards.
