Am Eiliad / O’r Ddwy Lan – Melda Lois
I KA CHING is delighted to announce ‘Am Eiliad / O’r Dwy Lan’, a new double single by Melda Lois, to be released on 7 November 2025.
Evoking the feeling of autumn, the light of dusk, and the quiet moment of drawing the curtains, ‘Am Eiliad / O’r Dwy Lan’ takes inspiration from the great writer-composers of the 1970s.
‘Am Eiliad’ was written during a songwriting course at Tŷ Newydd in October 2024, under the guidance of Georgia Ruth and Carwyn Ellis. The challenge: to write a song about autumn — and this is the result.
“The song is about holding tightly to the last moments of autumn and sunlight before winter arrives,” says Lois. “It’s about accepting that the change in seasons also changes our world. When the shorter days come, we can embrace the warmth of staying in, wrapping up in a coat, and stepping into the fresh air before the rain and cold arrive.”
‘O’r Dwy Lan’ is a Welsh translation of Joni Mitchell’s immortal ‘Both Sides, Now’. Although Lois had been performing it live for over two years, it took some time to arrange the copyright (!) and decide how best to record such a classic.
Melda Lois once again collaborated with Ifan Jones at Sain to record the double single, joined by fellow musician Osian Huw — the three are lifelong friends. A video, funded by the PYST x S4C Music Video Fund, will accompany the release, with more new music from Melda Lois set to follow in 2026.
