Sonant – Sonant
The debut album by Sonant, which shares the same name as the duo, will be released via I KA CHING on 15/5/26.
Minimalist, peaceful, and pure music encapsulated in the debut album from the piano duo Sonant, a collaboration between two of Wales’ most established musicians: Siân James and Sioned Webb. The compositions are a mixture of completely original pieces and works inspired by folk and classical melodies. Familiar names such as the band Vrï, Aled Hughes (Cowbois Rhos Botwnnog), and Siân’s sons, Mabon and Llywelyn, also contribute to the album’s sound. At its heart, however, Sonant is an astonishing fusion of the sound of two pianos.
Having competed against each other on the under 12 solo piano competition, and later studied under Professor William Mathias in Bangor’s Music Department, it almost feels as though fate has shaped the next stage of Siân and Sioned’s journey, as they now perform together and are about to release their first album as a duo. Audiences have already had a taste of the album’s hopeful and radiant sound through the singles Clychau and Pauperem, all the tracks offer balm for the soul and music that nourishes every spirit.
The album was recorded at Stiwdio Sain with Aled Hughes engineering and co-producing. All album photography was taken by Mefus Photography and designed by Dyfan Williams.
