Mynadd

Mynadd is a five-piece band from Bala, north Wales, who have been writing and performing since the latter stages of 2022. Their first single, ‘Llwybrau’, was released with I KA CHING at the end of October 2023. Elain Rhys’s powerful voice is interwoven with Math Thomas on the guitar, his sister Nel on the bass, Gruffudd ab Owain on the piano and Cadog Edwards on the drums. They pride themselves on the rich musical tapestry of their area, bringing together an ensemble of influences to plough their own furrow.

Their second single, ‘Dylanwad‘, was released in February 2024.

Mynadd was one of the 5 artists to watch in 2024 according to music reviewer Tegwen Bruce-Deans on BBC Cymru Fyw. She said: “It’s obvious that the band have been working on their sound by experimenting with live performances, because their first single, Llwybrau, has the stamp of careful and confident skill. The jazz-style piano takes what could be a conventional band sound to the next level, and perfectly captures the confident identity and lovely innocence of the young people behind the music.”
